President / Master Brewer
President and Master Brewer Jeff Erway started chasing the brewers dream in 2003 and was able to slowly climb over the mountains and mole hills. As the founder of La Cumbre Brewing Co., he takes a great deal of pride and pleasure in steering the ship and seeing the joy created by our beer and an even greater source of pride in serving the employees that come together daily to create, sell and distribute the beer that he has wanted to brew for as long as he can remember.

CFO Scot Nelson, first began the quest for better beer when he started home brewing in the mid 90’s. While Jeff was at his previous head brewer’s job, Scot got to know him and his amazing beers. When Jeff gave Scot the opportunity to be involved with La Cumbre from the beginning, he jumped at the chance. Scot escaped from his mundane Public Accounting position to work at La Cumbre on a permanent basis and couldn’t be happier. Scot enjoys playing an integral role with a growing company committed to producing the best beer it possibly can.
Director of Brewery Operations
Head Brewer Daniel Jaramillo, a native of Albuquerque, has been brewing for over 20 years. He got his start at Rio Bravo Brewing downtown where he apprenticed under Brad Kraus, a pioneer of the NM brew scene. He went on to work at Bavarian Lager Cellar where he found his niche for brewing lager beer and won gold at The World Beer Cup for his “Toofless Bock.” He has since worked at a few other breweries where he has not only honed his craft but learned how to successfully manage and maintain a brewery. He enjoys ensuring all the beer has the LCBC stamp of approval.
Head Brewer Alan Skinner began his endeavor with craft beer while working on his biology degree at Bethel College in North Newton, KS. Brewing started off as a relaxing hobby to bring reprieve from the strains of long hours locked away in the laboratory. As his studies progressed, so did his hobby. In 2011 he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology, a minor in chemistry, and a fullblown obsession for making beer. In 2014 he was given the chance to work for La Cumbre and jumped at the opportunity. It didn’t take long to realize that the team was comprised of some of the most knowledgeable brewers around. Hungry for knowledge, he soaked up all he could. During this time he also helped to build a stronger quality control and analysis program. In 2016 he became the head brewer. He is continuing in his quest for knowledge and strives to make the best quality beer possible.
Daniel, an Albuquerque native and graduate of UNM has been a lover of craft beer for over a decade. After leaving a job as the financial administrator of a small technology corporation, Daniel decided to switch paths and began helping out at La Cumbre long before the brewery opened. Daniel is one of the original bartenders of the La Cumbre tap room and when, in 2013, a second sales position became available, he was the natural choice. Daniel serves the west side of Albuquerque as well as all of Santa Fe.
Born and raised in the hop capital of the United Sates, Yakima, Washington, Paul’s passion for beer was implanted at an early age. After much meandering, he landed a job at a premier liquor store in Albuquerque, NM, where he gained valuable knowledge about the craft beer movement and distribution. Paul volunteered his time to help launch La Cumbre before becoming a server in the taproom. In 2011, he became La Cumbre Brewing Company’s first salesperson and has been integral to the growth of the brewery every since.
Born and raised in New Mexico Josh attended UNM where, as many college students do, he found beer and realized that he liked it… A lot. This initial passion inspired a growth from being a casual drinker, then taking the time to learn to brew in a small capacity. Josh’s interest spiked when he lived abroad in Perth, Western Australia. Josh worked in the tap room for one of the largest breweries in Australia, Little Creatures Brewing Co. Little Creatures passion for beer was infectious and they took the time to really make their staff knowledgeable of beer and the Australian beer industry. Fast forward a month out of Australia with a hint that there might be a job available, Josh struck gold in La Cumbre Brewing Co. He has filled, and continues to promote many roles from delivery driver, to draft system specialist, and now is currently the Distribution Manager and outside sales representative for Albuquerque and Santa Fe chain stores (Smith’s, Albertson’s). Josh is a Cicerone Certified Beer Server and is working to take the Certified Cicerone exam in the fall. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to see what our beer can do for you.
Jenn is our Tap Room manager with almost nine years in the craft brewing scene. The former manager from Chama River Brewing Co. has been with La Cumbre since April of 2014 and has a real passion for the art that is craft beer. Even on vacation you can find her with some of the top rated beers in her hand. She carries this into the tap room and shares this passion with all of our employees. If you have questions, comments or concerns please feel free to let her know.
